HOW CV AND RESUME ARE DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER?
INTRODUCTION
Many people think that the CV and the resume are the same things. But a Curriculum Vitae and a resume are completely different things. If we describe precisely, a Curriculum Vitae is a longer description of your career and achievements. On the other hand, a resume is a concise document. In different countries, people use CV and resume according to themselves.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CV AND RESUME
Here are some differences between a CV and a resume. The differences are the same for the resume and CV of an artist. They are listed below-->
• As said above, a CV is a longer description of your career and a resume is a concise document.
• CV's are static. Here static means, once a person has made his/her CV, then there is no need to make any changes in the CV for a long time. For example. You got promoted to your company. This activity will increment your professional skills. But you cannot mention this in the CV. That's CV is said to be a static document. On the other hand, a resume is not a static document.
• You do not need to follow any particular format or rule for writing a resume.
USE OF RESUME AND CV AROUND THE WORLD
As said above, in different countries, CV and resume are used accordingly. Canada and USA are two countries where the companies prefer the resume for recruiting the candidates as compared to the CV. On the other hand, the UK, New Zealand, and Ireland are the countries in which the companies prefer CV over a resume for recruiting the candidates. In Germany too, CV is also preferred over a resume.
Moreover, South Africa, Australia and India people use CV and resume terms interchangeably. In such countries, a resume is preferred when a candidate is applying for a private job and a CV is preferred if a candidate is applying for a job in the public sector.
